Overview

Inndigo Blue, nestled at 699 Rodi Rd in Pittsburgh, stands out as an inviting American restaurant that blends comfort with subtle elegance. Positioned within a hotel overlooking a tranquil vista of parkway and woods, the location offers diners a scenic backdrop that enhances the overall dining experience. Though the hotel lobby carries an aged aroma, stepping into Inndigo Blue reveals a space thoughtfully designed with higher-end touches and a wall of windows that flood the room with natural light.

The cuisine here is refreshingly varied, appealing to families, couples, and groups alike. From hearty hoagies to Cajun-inspired chicken dishes, the menu captures classic American flavors with an approachable yet refined twist. Several guests have praised dishes like the steak hoagie and Cajun chicken for their robust and satisfying taste, while a wider range including pizza, Reubens, wings, salads, and burgers demonstrate the kitchen’s versatility. Portions are generous, reflecting a balance between value and quality.

Service plays a key role in shaping the dining atmosphere at Inndigo Blue. Staff members are described as warm and attentive, with particular commendation given to servers who go the extra mile, especially in accommodating families with children. This considerate approach creates a welcoming environment for guests across demographics—from intimate anniversary dinners to casual family outings involving children’s activities nearby, such as swimming at the hotel.

While some feedback suggests inconsistency in the quality—comparing parts of the menu to cafeteria fare—the overall sentiment leans positive, hinting at unrealized potential and moments of culinary delight. The presence of live entertainment during special evenings adds another layer of charm, turning dining into a multisensory experience.

Desserts, though occasionally divisive, tend to impress with choices like rich chocolate cake and cherry pie, rounding out meals with classic American sweetness. The option to take home moist, flavorful portions also speaks to the restaurant’s focus on satisfaction beyond the plate.

Inndigo Blue’s blend of accessible American dishes, welcoming service, and inspired setting positions it as a notable, if sometimes surprising, destination within Pittsburgh’s dining scene. It is well suited for those seeking a family-friendly yet polished meal, couples celebrating special moments, or visitors looking for dependable comfort with a scenic ambiance.

Staff was extremely warm and friendly. Our server, Gina, was the best and made sure our son was very well taken care of. Excellent food. My wife loved the Cajun Chicken.

Some of the food is outstanding. Some reminds me of cafeteria food. The place is beautiful with higher end touches and a wall of windows overlooking a vista of the parkway and woods. Portions are good-sized. I just feel like this place has more potential than it's currently showing.

I would call this the "surprise on the hill." Can't comment on the hotel it's in, but it seemed old and smelly when we walked through the lobby. The food in the restaurant was surprisingly good... one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" moments. A large group of us (out of town) had everything from pizza to Reubens, soup, wings, salads, burgers and more. All tasted delicious, even the sauce on the pizza was flavorful, which was the biggest surprise. We'll be going back a second time before we leave!

Had an anniversary dinner here. There was lots of food - all very good and a variety of desserts! Hubby loved the chocolate cake. I had cheesecake that wasn't up to my standards (I make my own) so I took a piece of cherry pie home with me that was very good. We also took several large pieces of turkey home with us that were super moist and delicious. Service was fast and efficient and there was a band to provide entertainment. Overall it was a pleasant evening.

Inndigo Blue is a nice restaurant. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food was excellent. I had a cup of French onion soup and a chef's salad, both of which were quite good. My server (Kimberly) was helpful and very pleasant. She was appropriately attentive to my needs without being in any way intrusive. I live about 4 hours away and was here on business staying at the Comfort Inn (attached). I don't know when/if business will take me to this same address again, but for a simple, tasty dinner, Inndigo Blue is a winner. Thanks!!
